Cancer Research UK has helped me and I want them to keep finding more ways to beat cancer sooner!
Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. Two years ago I could only watch the Scarborough Race for Life as I had just started chemotherapy for breast cancer. Last year I managed to Zumba the 5k just after reconstructive surgery. This year I am aiming to run as much of the course as possible! (Very slowly!) I am running with my friends, many of whom are in the Mayfield Netball team. We have all been affected by cancer in some way; either first hand or with family or close friends. We want to run the Race for Life in memory of some special people but also with gratifude for the work that has been done on the cancer treatments that I and many others have benefitted from. Consistent progress is being made but improvements to technology and ground-breaking work offer new opportunities to find different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve survival rates even further.
