2026 TCS London Marathon
I'm running the London Marathon for Cancer Research UK to help fund breakthroughs. This year it’s personal: after getting my place, a family member was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer.
My Story
Of all the reasons people choose to run the London Marathon, doing it for Cancer Research UK feels both humbling and urgent for me this year. When I first applied and was lucky enough to be offered a place, my motivation was already strong. Cancer Research UK funds life‑saving research that improves prevention, diagnosis and treatment for millions of people, and I wanted to play a small part in supporting that work. Shortly afterwards, cancer stopped being something abstract. A member of my family was diagnosed with breast cancer and went through treatment. Seeing first‑hand the toll, the uncertainty, and the dependence on skilled clinicians and effective treatments brought home just how vital research really is. The fact that treatment options existed - and are working - is a direct result of years of dedicated research and fundraising. Running the London Marathon has therefore become far more personal. Every training run, early morning, and moment of self‑doubt is a reminder of why this matters. I’m running to honour my family member’s strength, to support those currently facing cancer, and to help ensure that more people benefit from earlier diagnosis and better outcomes in the future. If my miles can help fund even a small part of the research that saves lives, then every step will be worth it.
