My Story
I was first diagnosed with cancer in June 2004 I actually got the results on my sons 17th birthday, sadly I was misdiagnosed and by the time the doctors knew what was wrong I was a stage 4 and maybe too late to do anything for me, but then I responded to treatment and surgery, at least giving me a bit more time with family. 4 years passed and I thought I had beaten cancer, durning a routine appointment with the oncologist I mentioned that I had a pain in my back, that pain turned out to be secondary lung cancer and the diagnosis was terminal and maybe I would live 2 years with treatment, that was in 2009. With the help of cancer research I’m still here life is not easy I’m in constant pain, but I get to wake up every morning to my family, and I get to see my granddaughters, believe me life doesn’t get better than that. So now I want to do this muddy challenge to give something back as without cancer research I would not be here, I’m not saying I will do this in record breaking time I’m also not saying my friends the Boot camp babes won’t help me around the course, what I am saying is I’m going to do this challenge and hopefully raise as much money as possible to help anyone out there so their diagnosis never becomes terminal. If you can help me in any way I would be very grateful and so would all the cancer sufferers out there, let’s give them hope. In advance I thank you all for helping me pay it forward xx Dawn
