We’re walking 30,000 steps together every day this March for Cancer Research UK.
My Story
Last year I completed the 10,000 steps a day challenge and with support raised £800 for the charity, I hadn’t intended to do it again this year but my friend Natalie has recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, causing loss of some mobility due to very sore and stiff joints, and wanted a personal challenge to prove to herself that it wasn’t going to beat her. We decided that we would both do the challenge this year, but for support work together, not on the 10,000 though but a combined 30,000 each day in March, that way if I have a day where I am not able to complete my 15,000 (for me that’s about 12k), Natalie will make up the difference, and if Natalie has a bad day I will do the same. On our day’s off Nat and I will go walking together to encourage each other on. Our families and friends have been impacted by this terrible illness now and over the recent years, we’ve both seen the heart ache it causes to all, if we can complete this challenge to make a family’s life better by raising funds for research that this charity has and continues to do, is invaluable to those around me and us. We haven’t set a target to reach this year but I would like to hope that through a bit of fundraising locally/social media and the donation page we can get at least close to last year. Any contribution to a prevention is a step in the right direction, so help if you can, you can donate through the link or in person, I can log the donation as off line, there may even be a guess the steps competition with a prize for the closest like last year.
