My Story

Thank you for taking the time to read why I’m fundraising for Cancer Research. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 10k on 26th July to raise money and save lives. This cause is incredibly close to my heart, having affected my own life and my family, just as it has so many other people. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. I am completing this run in loving memory of three very special people who are dearly missed: my incredible Granma Brenda, who sadly passed away in 2010; our dear family friend Clive, who passed away in 2019; and a inspirational work colleague Danny, who passed away in 2020. The money raised will be to celebrate and remember them, as well as all those who have beaten cancer or are currently dealing with it. Your support helps raise vital funds and awareness so that, hopefully, one day loved ones won’t be lost to this disease. To give myself the best chance of making an impact, I have been training hard since January. Unfortunately, I suffered a setback in April when I tore my calf muscle right as I completed my first 10K of the year😒. However, after plenty of physio sessions, dedicated stretching, and strength exercises, I have finally been signed off to start running again💪. I am completely determined to run the entire 10K in less than 1 hour.
