My Story
I am so happy to be running this race for life with my two sons Sam and Joe plus help cancer research raise money to fight this disease. When I was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer my youngest son Joe was still at primary school and Sam was in his first year university. Ten years on and Joe is now at university and Sam is married to the love of his life Rachel. Being at Sam and Rachels wedding last year was a joy to see and be part of. Without Research into cancer care and new treatments, the skills of the Doctors, nurses and all the hospital staff that cared for me during my cancer treatment, it could all have been so different for me and my family. Currently with the fantastic support from my wife Janice I have a superb quality of life enjoying playing football 4 time a week plus snooker and other activities. I have met some fantastic people through these activities who support me in all different ways, as I do them. I am currently learning ballroom dancing with my wife Janice ( our toughest new challenge ) with friends form work at B and Q. I'm currently in my sixth year working with a great group of friends and colleges, always willing to support and help. During all this time our close group of friends and family have always been there for us, during the rough days of treatment and smoother times for coffee days, Birthday parties, holidays etc. In the race for life me and my boys will be in competition, to be the best, but of course I will win, as I will continue to beat cancer and win my own race for life while supporting cancer research. Please help me and my sons raise money doing this 10K and spur me on to reach Janice and Rachel who will be waiting at the finish line for us. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 10k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.
