My Story

Thank you for visiting my Fundraising Page. The money I raise will help fund life-saving research and to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. My wife Maureen passed away recently in February 2019 to cancer, and I've lost countless other very close family and friends to cancer, so I'm sure you will all understand this being very close to my heart. I need your help to raise funds for CRUK, which is so very important in the fight against this terrible illness, which I'm sure has affected almost every single person in the UK, through family and/or friends. I am carrying out a 1000 mile solo walk throughout Scotland, England and Wales, with all proceeds going to CRUK. The walk route is as follows :- Rutherglen, Glasgow to Pentwyn, Cardiff : 359 miles Pentwyn to Harwich, Essex : 217 miles Harwich to Kempston, Bedford : 87 miles Kempston to Rutherglen : 340 miles A grand total of : 1003 miles As most of you know, I had originally planned my walk during April - June 2020. Unfortunately I had to postpone it due to the Coronavirus outbreak. I will now be undertaking my walk during April - June 2021. I intend to start out from Rutherglen on Monday 26th April 2021, and it should take me just under 8 weeks to complete. (Including 1 extra night in Cardiff, Harwich and Kempston). If all goes to plan, I should arrive back in Rutherglen on Friday 18th June 2021. I know it may seem a long way off till I start, but I'm sure you all appreciate the amount of planning, preparation and training, which will be involved. It also gives plenty of time to build up the donations for this very worthwhile and excellent charity. A great big thanks to everyone who has donated so far, you've all been very generous and many thanks in advance to everyone who is going to donate at some point. Every single donation, whether it be a penny or a pound is greatly appreciated and I shall make regular updates on my Facebook page during the planning stages and also during the walk itself.
