David's Cycle 300 Fundraising Page
I'm cycling 300 miles this September for Cancer Research UK.
In memory of
Phil Hunt
I decided to sign up for this challenge because I lost a friend to cancer last year. The chances are that everyone has either lost someone to cancer, or knows someone who has been diagnosed (the fact is that 1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime). Phil Hunt was a genuinely nice guy. He was a husband, father, granddad and son who is missed by all. He was also friend to many including me. We didn't see each other every week or anything like that, but when we did meet up we always had a laugh and joke. We even bumped into each other in the middle of Cornwall on separate family holidays. He was not only my friend but he also spread that friendship to my partner and sons when they came along. He was a lifelong Stoke City supporter and it is a measure of the man that at his funeral everyone wore a Stoke City football shirt, he would've loved seeing the most ardent of Liverpool and Man United supporters wearing those!! I decided that I would show my respect to this "Top Bloke" and hopefully help a bit by signing up to this Cancer Research Cycle 300 event. The aim is to cycle 300 miles during the month of September and hopefully raise a bit of money in the process. Due to the fact I travel a lot for work I won't be doing this on an outdoor bike, but trying to fit enough sessions in at the gym to hit (and if possible beat) the 300 miles target. If you could donate even a small amount I would appreciate it, but if not please share this page as far as possible in the hope that someone else can. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Cancer Research UK.
