My Story
The aim of the ride is to raise much needed funds for Cancer Research UK. Too many people are affected by this horrible disease and as everyone who knows our family knows what we’ve been through the last couple of years. During the pandemic when we couldn’t travel my sister in law Gemma was diagnosed, in America, no one could go over and we all felt helpless, then 8 month’s after Gemma’s diagnosis, we had the devastating news that Kirsty had also been struck with it. Thankfully specialists both sides of the Atlantic have the knowledge and equipment to tackle the type of cancer that they both had and today they are survivors. Unfortunately there are many that aren’t and we need to work towards the prevention and cure. The challenge involves me and 30odd others trying to get from Lands End to John O’groats within 24 hours on the longest day of the year. To make it more of a task we won’t be using any motorways and as if that wasn’t difficult enough we have a £600 budget for the bikes! I’ll be posting updates of my jalopy as I prepare it for the journey, currently it’s sat in my shed in bits and it hasn’t been on the road in 14 years so should be fine!! A challenge in aid of Cancer Research UK, for motorcyclists on cheap and inappropriate motorcycles to ride from Land’s End to John O'Groats in 24hrs on the longest day of the year.
