My partner, friend and soulmate Ruth and I decided to do the 2018 Shine Walk Half Marathon to raise funds for an amazing charity and as part of our walking ourselves to a healthier lifestyle. With careful eating and loads of walking we'd each lost four stone in a year, and were well on the way to our respective targets. Tragically, I lost Ruth on 7th April 2018 following surgical complications with a gallbladder operation. However, I went on to complete the walk in Ruth's memory and honour, and her sister Stephanie walked with me. We completed the Half Marathon in just under 3h45m. This time we have committed to the big one - the full marathon distance - and need all the support we can get! Stephanie and her friend Sarah have signed up with me, and together we will Shine. Each year Cancer Research UK’s scientists get closer to beating cancer, and they’ve helped double survival rates in the last 40 years. But we can’t stop there. Only with our continued support can they turn this research into breakthroughs that save millions of lives. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.
