Dan's Festival of Tennis

My Story

Dan's Story I had the pleasure of teaching Dan when he was a pupil at Wellsway School. Dan was an absolute delight to teach. I also enjoyed being a fellow member at Bath Tennis Club where Dan was an exceptionally good junior player. Thank you for visiting Dan's Fundraising Page. The money we raise will help fund life-saving research and to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. Dan was diagnosed with bowel cancer aged 24, in November 2022, after having some symptoms for just two weeks. His diagnosis and prognosis were a complete shock to him, his family and friends. He has really appreciated all the support and treatment that he has received from all the staff at the Cancer Centre, the Oncology Treatment Suite and the colorectal cancer services team at the Q.E.Hospital in Birmingham. As an F2 Junior Doctor, Dan appreciates how important up-to-date research is in helping increase treatment options for people, like him, who are currently undergoing chemotherapy. He has chosen Cancer Research UK as the charity he wants to raise money for because the research they fund is crucial in the search for new treatment options, early diagnosis and hopefully cures for all cancers. A number of fundraising events have been organised by his family and friends over the past months and already over £31,000 has been raised to support Cancer Research UK. Dan is hugely appreciative of the fantastic support and is looking forward to this next exciting event at Bath Tennis Club where he first started to play and was coached by Rich Little. We do hope you are able to support this event by donating and coming along to join us for a fun afternoon of tennis, taking part or just chilling in the sunshine!

CAUSE

Bowel cancer

Over the past 40 years there's been dramatic progress in tackling bowel cancer and half of people diagnosed will now survive for at least 10 years. But with bowel cancer still claiming around 43 lives each day, more research still needs to be done. Help Cancer Research UK find new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease.
