My Story
Thank you for visiting my Fundraising Page. The money I raise will help fund life-saving research and to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. I was diagnosed with metastatic bowel cancer aged 24, in November 2022, after having symptoms for only two weeks. My diagnosis and prognosis have been a complete shock to me, my family and friends. I have really appreciated all the support and treatment that I have received from the staff at the Cancer Centre, the Oncology Treatment Suite and the Colorectal Cancer Services team at the Q.E.Hospital in Birmingham. I appreciate how important up-to-date research is as a Doctor, in helping increase treatment options for people, like me, who are currently undergoing chemotherapy. I have chosen Cancer Research UK as the charity I would like to raise money for because the research they fund is crucial in the search for new treatment options, early diagnosis and hopefully cures for all cancers. A huge number of fundraising events have been organised over the past 18 months by my family and friends. Some events have now run for two years in a row. These fundraisers continue to be amazing in terms of raising money for CRUK and showing support for me and my family. Keynsham Hockey Club started off the fundraising by organising a quiz in early March 2023, the most recent fundraisers have included a Race Night at KRFC, a coffee morning at KCC, Macrame Madness and soon to be repeated the noisiest event so far Splash for Cash at Droitwich Lido! The number of activities offered continues to grow, I'm sure that you will find something to join in with or you can just make a donation! Thank you for reading my story. Dan
