On 14 November 2018 I was told I have cancer. I don't remember the words, but I remember hearing my heart, I remember the room, I remember the pen the consultant was holding, and I remember Luke, my partner, reaching out to touch my knee. Having spent the last 10 months experiencing surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy I start to wonder if there is a better way to treat cancer. Active treatment is grueling, isolating and dark. You feel alone, you feel beat up, and you are just trying to survive. Treatment for me is not over. I still have many years of maintenance treatment. I won't say the hard part is over, because it is all hard. However, I am grateful to celebrate this very important milestone. To celebrate the end of active treatment, Luke and I are walking 10km with our team, True Cancer Bodies. Please sponsor us and help fund research to treat all cancers! A little bit about Cancer Research UK Each year Cancer Research UK’s scientists get closer to beating cancer, and they’ve helped double survival rates in the last 40 years.
