My Story
I am running the London marathon on 21st April 2024 to raise money to help Cancer Research UK continue their investigate the causes of cancer; and what can be done to prevent it and to give guidance to clinicians to help anyone receiving treatment so they are treated with dignity, respect and fairness. I started running after completing my degree as I didn't have enough time to play football anymore due to working. It took a while for me to enjoy running but once I downloaded Strava so I could track my runs, I was able to use my competitiveness to challenge myself and that's when running started to becoming enjoyable. 10k is usually my favoured distance but the London marathon has been on my bucket list since 2017 when I watched 'Mind over Marathon' on BBC iPlayer. This programme really helped me understand how amazing and rewarding the mental benefits are and since watching this programme, I always appreciate how great I feel after a run, both mentally and physically. I'm really excited for this challenge, I know it's going to be a lot of hard work and dedication but doing it for a worthy cause will always be at the forefront of my mind when I'm training.
