I'm Racing for Life to celebrate the life of loved ones who lost the fight against cancer.
In memory of
Nancy Seow
When I was little, most weekends were spent with godma. We would have a picnic in the garden, go to the beach, have a bath together and watch TV. She would always make me food and buy me presents. She lived with grandma and looked after her when she got frail. Whenever I was with her it always felt like my second home. One fateful day, godma was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She was determined to fight against it and went through all sorts of treatments and therapy. She bravely took it on one step at a time. Being away from home at this time I couldn't be there for her much. When I finally managed to go home to spend some time with her, she said to me 'As long as you're happy, I am.' All I managed to do for her is make her some pancakes. I never really knew how to say goodbye. Nine months later on 12 April 2014, Godma lost the fight against pancreatic cancer. Looking back at how courageous and selfless she has been during all this time, it gives me strength to continue to do the things I care about and care for other people in the same way she did. I hope her story will give others the same courage and strength she gave me, not just the ones who are dealing with cancer, but also to the ones who have had to deal with the loss of a loved one. Let's be brave about beating cancer.
