We're raising money for Cancer Research UK because they're doing the most amazing work - it was a Cancer Research UK Trial that saved Crispin's life. Many of you will know that he was diagnosed with Oesophageal Cancer in 2016, he went on to have chemo and radiotherapy, followed by surgery in November 2016. Unfortunately the cancer came back 2 years later and we were told it wasn't treatable, and that he wouldn't have much longer than a year. Our oncologist knew that immunotherapy was our only chance but for oesophageal cancer (because it doesn't tend to get as much funding as many of the other cancers) immunotherapy was only at the early trial stage, so we had to find a trial for Crispin to get onto. We managed to find a trial, being run by Cancer Research UK, and Crispin was given the immunotherapy as a guinea pig, not knowing how he would do on it. He did amazingly on it! We’ve just celebrated 5 years of him being completely clear as a result of the immunotherapy trial treatment. Immunotherapy is the way all cancer treatment will go in the future and is already being used as standard NHS treatment for certain cancers. For others, they're still trying to get through the trials. We want more people to benefit from this life-saving treatment, and by donating to Cancer Research, we can do this. Thank you for helping us.
CAUSE
Oesophageal cancer
Oesophageal cancer rates are rising in the UK, and it's one of the hardest cancers to treat. It’s the sixth most common cause of cancer death and survival rates are poor. Help fund one of Cancer Research UK's top priorities – finding ways to improve survival from the disease.
