My Story
In early 2020 I was diagnosed with aggressive Prostate Cancer and underwent surgery to remove a tumour. In early 2021 the cancer returned with complications, leaving me with a limited life expectancy. Having received such wonderful care and treatment from our NHS, I wanted to give something back to show my appreciation. Sadly for some people, their prognosis is much worse than mine, and it is on this basis that I decided to raise money for Cancer Research UK. My aim was to complete a charity cycle ride around the coast of mainland UK in 2022. I visited all 4 of the compass points - North, South, East and West, raising money to help with future treatments. I left from Ness Point, Lowestoft, my home town and the most easterly point on the mainland, on May 1st 2022 and arrived home 4 months later at the end of August with around 4000 miles of cycling done and plenty of pies eaten! I met some truly wonderful and generous people on my journey and tried to give others an insight into what I was experiencing on Instagram @compass4cancer. Please take a look and donate whatever you can. Nobody knows when they might need the work of this important charity. Keep pedlin! Kev
