Mark Elliott
My Story
Mark Elliott was a much loved husband, father and friend, who filled every room with his infectious laugh. Sadly in 2020 Mark was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer, and passed away shortly after his diagnosis later that year. Throughout that time though, Mark remained true to his nature: positive, grateful for life, and finding laughter every day. Oesophageal cancer has symptoms that can be hard to spot, making it one of the hardest cancers to treat. Raising money to specifically research into this part of the disease has never been so important, and so any donations, big or small, would be greatly received. As a result, 70% of donations raised here will be sent straight to funding this vital research for oesophageal cancer, and the remaining 30% helping support the other life saving work done by CRUK. In Mark’s memory, his family are organising the fourth Give & Gig event at The Bedford in Balham, where all ticket proceeds go to cancer research here in the UK, to help save lives and beat cancer sooner. If you’re free in the evening of Thursday 14th May 2026, we’d love for you to join us for round 4! CAUSE
Oesophageal cancer
Each year, around 9,400 people are diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in the UK. That’s 26 people every single day. With your support, our dedicated researchers can continue to discover better ways to prevent, detect and treat oesophageal cancer.
