I'm taking part in Race for Life, my first 5K, to raise money to beat cancer sooner. I’m running in memory of my oldest & best friend, Joanne Wilkinson.

Before February of this year I couldn’t as much as run for a bus, but through the couch to 5K app this middle aged, over weight, arthritic and asthmatic woman is hoping to run 5k to raise money to fight the disease that took my grandad and then my best friend. My grumpy 11 year old daughter also wants to join me.

Consistent progress is being made but improvements to technology and ground-breaking work offer new opportunities to find different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve survival rates even further.
