My Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. This March I’m walking 20,000 steps a day throughout the month to help beat cancer sooner I hope this will give me something to focus on. Help me Walk All Over Cancer and fund life-saving research by sponsoring me. It's my Birthday on 26th February, which I'm not bothered about as some of you may know my Granda has battled Cancer (Skin Cancer) for 6 years now spread. He is terminally ill in Hospital (for the last two weeks) and all he want's to do is go peacefully in his sleep. However in the UK we think it's humane to allow a person who in his own words has had a good life but it's my time to go "I just want to go peacefully in my sleep". He's been active all of his life he's hardly had a day off (who was physically active all of his life, even welding up to November 2018 working 7 days a week) he know's he's dying, in pain and just would be rather welding. He shook the young doctors hand and said he to him "thank you very much for being honest, I knew I was dying". Then when asked if your heart stops do you want to be resuscitated "Hell No I only want to die once"! Ever the true gentleman! Until you see a loved one in this situation you don't really see the effects on a whole family and of course the person themselves. Granda has farmed most of his life and as he says you won't keep an animal like this. You would be prosecuted. I feel people should be given the right to die with dignity and I want people to speak up to help make this change as Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga sings: "Are you happy in this modern world? Or do you need more? Is there somethin' else you're searchin' for?" Well Yes I want change, in this modern world this should not be happening as it's inhumane! All I want is for my Granda's voice to be heard to have is wish and for no other family to have to go through this torture both mentally and physically. I feel that this should be looked at again by the Government for cases of elderly people who have the mental capacity to make their own decision! They should have their wishes to Die Respected! I'm asking for donations to Cancer Research UK. I've chosen this non-profit because their mission means a lot to me, and I hope that you'll consider contributing as a way of celebrating with me. Every little bit will help me reach my goal. I've included information about Cancer Research UK below. Together we will beat cancer. My Granda yesterday (28th February 2019) got his wish, he passed away peacefully at Berwick hospital. I just want to say the staff at Berwick Hospital have been absolutely fantastic. He will be sorely missed by everyone and has left a huge whole in our lives! Funny thing is he won't be able to understand why, as he was the most kindest, loving, loyal gentleman you will ever meet. Until we meet again Granada. Love you so much and miss you so much! All my Love Claire Xxxx
