My Story
Here's my story.... I've taken part in the Race for Life since 2006. On June 17th 2014, 2 days after I'd just run the Race for Life, I was given the news that everyone dreads.....You have Cancer. I was youngish, pretty fit, reasonably healthy and felt great, so it came as a bit of a surprise. Thanks to charities like Cancer Research UK, I am still here as I had access to effective treatments like Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy, Herceptin (took part in clinical trail) and I have on-going hormone therapy (Tamoxifen). To mark my 5 years since diagnosis I had grand plans to run a marathon, however I had to change my plans after I started to feel a bit unwell in January. It's ok it's good news! to my surprise I found out I was pregnant! Amazing news after all my body has been through. So instead, I have signed up for 2 10km's in Edinburgh, which I think is still a bit ambitious, but I'm a determined wee soul. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.
