I'm taking part in Cancer Research UK's Tough 10 at Heatin Park on 10th November to raise money to beat cancer sooner
In memory of
Grandad (Arnold) Lees
Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking on the challenge of Cancer Research UK's Tough 10 to raise money and save lives. The majority of families now have a story regarding a family member or friend suffering from cancer. I am no different, my Grandad suffered for a few months in the mid 1990’s and I saw the devastating way it can affect a person in a matter of months. My sister Heidi was diagnosed with breast cancer 6 years ago. She had successful treatment at Christie’s & Tameside Hospital. Unfortunately at the end of June this year she discovered that the cancer had returned in some of her bones. She is again receiving excellent treatment at the above hospitals. My Uncle Graham is also battling the disease at the moment. I heard about this 10k run on the radio and thought that would be good to do as I’ve never undertaken anything like this before. The fact that Cancer Research will receive any donations I receive gives me that extra motivation to keep up with my training especially during the coming months when the weather might not be quite as nice. I have seen what great treatment they have been giving Heidi. Cancer will be cured eventually with all the research I’m positive about that. My family and friends will keep supporting Heidi and Graham through their treatment as I’m sure every family would do in the same situation. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Cancer Research UK.
