My Story

Seven and a half years ago, I became another statistic, when I heard those dreaded words, "I'm sorry to say but you have cancer". Nothing can ever quite prepare you for that, nor for the emotional roller coaster that follows. It's human instinct to immediately fear the worst, the unknown, and it's fucking terrifying! Fortunately, even though I had ignored that niggly lump for six months (typical bloke), my cancer was still caught relatively early, and through surgery and chemotherapy, I was finally given the all-clear. But I realise that I was one of the lucky ones. We've all lost family and friends to this awful disease, and it really does come down to a bit of luck and being aware of our body and what does and doesn't feel right. If you're not sure, please go and get it checked out, and ask for a second opinion if necessary. The good news is that thanks to the research and progress made by institutions such as Cancer Research UK, nearly all cancers are curable if they are found early, so please, give if you can. The work being done to detect and cure never stops. I'm doing this for everyone else who is currently battling cancer, and for those who have lost loved ones.
