My mum was diagnosed with Cancer on the 17th March 2017 and passed away on the 19th. In such a short space of time, we had to watch the person we love most deteriorate and slip away, with nothing for us to possibly do. In most cases, Cancer can be recognisable but in this case, we had simply no idea what was happening or why it was happening. We completely missed the signs. She was diagnosed with cancer in her liver, lungs, breast and spine. Luckily, the cancer did not reach her brain but unfortunately this made no difference. Over weeks and months, we assumed she was in agonising back pain and even with the help of physiotherapists, nothing seemed to help. Now we know what it was, we feel so annoyed that we missed the signs. It was only when her skin and eyes turned yellow that we knew how serious the situation had became. We hope, by sharing this story, that the same doesn't happen to others too. My mum, Jaki, was a kind-hearted, generous and inspiring woman. She was independant and resourceful and was ultimately a breath of fresh air. She would do anything for anyone, which is why we now feel it's suitable to return the favour and partake in Race For Life in her honour. If you knew well or had even just heard her name, I would be most greatful if anyone could help us raise money in her honour. It cannot take our pain away but with her friends and family collaborating for this particular event; it gives us so much comfort. Thank you for all of your help. - Chloe
