Cheryl and Ben's Race for Life - 10k

So after finally getting off of the couch and completing the 'couch to 5k' the next challenge is taking part in a Race for Life 10k to raise money and save lives. We are running the 10k to help raise funds and awareness for pancreatic cancer. Below is our friend Ceri's story. "In 2015 our beautiful son, Leo was born two months prematurely. I had been unwell since I was 27 weeks pregnant. A week later I was sent for an exploratory endoscopy and a tumour was found on my pancreas. I received my diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer a few weeks later and within days my first round of chemotherapy had started. After seven months I then had a six week course of radiotherapy. I was then a candidate for surgery, a 'Whipple' procedure which was major surgery to say the least. After my recuperation I was seven months cancer free when it returned to my liver. It was treated with an ablation and another six months' of chemotherapy. Ten further months of being cancer free passed by before it then came back for a third, and unfortunately, final time. I am currently on palliative 'chemo' and fighting to prolong my life and give me as much precious time as I can with my gorgeous boys and husband. If it had been caught at an earlier stage, the chances are that I wouldn't be where I am now and cancer free”. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
