My Story
In 2017, my nan was diagnosed with stage 2 nodular melanoma on her arm which she had cut out and was told she was cancer free. Unfortunately in August 2018 my nan found a lump in her neck and after some scans, tests and lots of hospital appointments it transpires that actually the melanoma from 2017 never left and is now widespread to all lymph nodes and major organs etc. We were told in October 2018 that her prognosis is 6-9 months. Fast forward 8-9 months, my nan and the melanoma is responding well to immunotherapy treatment! This wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Cancer Research UK and the work they do! The treatment for melanoma is life prolonging - currently, there is no cure for advanced melanoma. My one wish is that I will see a cure for this awful disease in my lifetime.
