My Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. This March I’m walking 10,000 steps a day throughout the month to help beat cancer. Help me Walk All Over Cancer and fund life-saving research by making a donation to my page. Here’s my story... I never really experienced anything to do with Cancer until 2016 when our beautiful friend was diagnosed and after a two year battle sadly left us. 2018 hits and my Great Uncle was diagnosed with lung cancer. Again, it hits you like a brick shit house. Hospital visits to talk and make life seem as normal as possible for them until you get the gut wrenching call to say to come in and say goodbye. Fast forward to 2020, the year is already crap and after mum needing tests for what we thought was a polyp, waiting outside the hospital for her to finish her appointment and knowing straight away by her face that your world is about to come crashing down. She has endometrial cancer. Hearing the words come out of her mouth ‘it’s cancer’ you just feel like you want the world to stop. We were the lucky ones catching it very early at Stage 1, Grade A but the emotional trauma that would come is the worst. Two major operations later and more appointments to then be told she has been bumped up to Stage 3, is potentially the equivalent of getting your heart ripped out. Now we are at our last stage, 6 sessions of chemo to hopefully blast whatever is left for precaution and to then live our lives again. There is also many others I’ve know that we have lost to this horrific disease and this is for them too.
