My Story
2020 certainly hasn't been what any of us expected it to be. I certainly wasn't expecting to be given news that my mum's cancer had returned and that this time it was terminal. After my mum was diagnosed with Stage 3 bowel cancer last year, we have had many ups and downs with her treatment and recovery. While we believed she had beaten it and things were starting to return to normal, it was at the beginning of lockdown we faced this blow. Although there may be no cure (yet!), there are treatments and medicines which can ease a person's pain and discomfort in order to give them a better quality of life. This is all thanks to Cancer Research and the vital research and resources they provide and continue to work on. I feel extremely lucky and will forever be grateful for the incredible support network of friends and family myself, my sister and my mum have had during this time. I will be running this Very 2020 Race For Life in honour of my mum who continues to fight every single day. Her positive attitude, strength and resilience inspires me every single day and I am so blessed to have had such an incredibly supportive mum growing up. To all of you around the country diagnosed or affected by this terrible illness, my heart is with you and we can get through this together. No amount is too little so please donate today and together we will beat Cancer. Thank you x
