My Mum and all those who have been affected by cancer
I was always one of those people that thought that cancer would never affect me or anyone that I knew...until it did. In December 2010, my mum was diagnosed with Endometrial Cancer. What made this all the more unexpected, was that my mum hadn't experienced any symptoms, so when the diagnosis came, we were all in shock. My mum rallied through the treatments like a trooper, and was given the all clear in 2011 and to date is still cancer free (touch wood!). Since then, my family, especially my sister have been in some way involved with Cancer Research and Race For Life as a way to not only help others who are suffering from this senseless disease, but to also honour those who have survived, and those who are no longer with us. After a 5 year hiatus from actually taking part in Race For Life (last time I did this was in 2012 with my mum, sister and auntie), I am back to take part again. This year, not only am I taking part in Race For Life for my mum and those who have survived cancer, but also in memory of my goddaughter's mum, who very sadly lost her long battle with cancer last year. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure.
