My Story
Cancer! Really should be called the B word, as it really is a b**ch! Cancer has affected mine and my families life for a very long time. I lost my Nan to ovarian cancer when I was 10, then my Aunty to cancer when I was 20 and most recently my Dad to bile duct cancer when I was 24. My Dads death hit us all like a brick! Bile duct cancer is one of the rarest types of cancer and usually affects people over the age of 65. The bile duct is located near the gallbladder, liver, pancreas and part of the small intestine! So this meant that it would have been very difficult to operate! My Dad, was only 54 when he passed away! Unfortunately, When this certain type of cancer is discovered it is usually too far progressed for anything to be done, meaning that we were waiting for Dad to lose his fight! Dads cancer battle was a pretty short one. From his diagnosis to his death it was about 8 weeks. He died on the 28th October 2016. Dad died with his family around him, the way he wanted it to be, but it was one of the hardest things my family had to face. So I'm racing in memory of my Dad, my Nan and my Aunty. All amazing people who were taken too early all because of cancer. 1 in 2 people will die from cancer, unfortunately for my family and I my Dad, Nan and Aunty were part of these statistics. Hopefully with more funding and research more cures can be discovered and the fight against cancer will eventually be won! Please help show me some support and help fight this horrid disease!
