Charlotte's Race for Life

My Story

Cancer Research has always meant a great deal to me, after seeing my grandad fight the disease when I was just a little girl. However what I wasn't prepared for - something I never would have dreamed of - was to see my mum have an operation to remove 2 tumours from her body smack bang in the middle of my a level exams earlier this year. While the news of her diagnosis and treatment threw me, we have been so lucky with how quickly she was seen and how well she is now recovering. Though there is still a way to go, we are doing okay. On Saturday 7th September I, along with family and friends, will be taking part in a 5K Mud Run in order to raise money for Cancer Research. Having completed the run before in previous years with my mum at our side, a group of us thought we would surprise her by signing up this year in support of her. 2019 has been a whirlwind and I could not have gotten through it without the endless love and support from my mum, who even when she was facing something unthinkable, was continuing to put others before herself. Any donations to this INCREDIBLE cause and/or sharing of mine and my team's fundraising pages will be so greatly appreciated. It is thanks to events like this that enable scientists to improve treatment and knowledge of this illness to help not only those diagnosed, but everyone around them affected by it too. Thank you xx
