My Story
I’m fundraising for Cancer Research UK because cancer has personally impacted my life. Losing a parental figure to cancer at a young age deeply shaped my teenage years and made me who I am today. Sadly, I’m not alone. 1 in 2 of us will get cancer in our lifetime—chances are, like me, you’ve seen friends battle through it, some winning and some losing, or even faced it yourself. Cancer research isn’t just personal for me—it’s part of my family’s mission. My mum is a cancer researcher specializing in Leukaemia and Alzheimer’s disease, and she is currently Co-Director of the Centre for Investigative & Diagnostic Oncology, pioneering innovative techniques in cancer diagnosis and therapy. When I entered Miss Great Britain Surrey, I had big challenge ideas to fundraise—unfortunately, my medical team vetoed all of them for now 🤕. But my incredible mum stepped in! She’s been doing 50 burpees every day in February on my behalf! 💖 If you’d like to support, I’d be incredibly grateful for any donation—every penny helps fund life-saving research. (And if you have a product or service you’d be willing to donate to a raffle for Cancer Research UK in May 🤞, please reach out at: www.charlotteappiah.com) 💗 Thank you for playing your part in this mission—I can’t tell you how much it means. 👑🤩💪 --- 👑 The Miss Great Britain Mission I'm so proud to be part of the Miss Great Britain 2025 team. The Miss Great Britain Organisation has raised over £230,000 for Cancer Research UK since 2015. But our impact goes beyond fundraising—finalists have shared vital awareness, advocated for early screening, and campaigned for change. Together, we are funding life-saving research, helping families stay together longer, and making sure more people have a fighting chance. Thank you for your support—Together, we are beating cancer! 🎗️💖
