My Story
Thank you for visiting my Fundraising Page. The money I raise will help fund life-saving research and to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured especially my rare cancer. What is clear cell carcinoma of the ovary? Clear-cell carcinoma, also known as clear-cell adenocarcinoma and mesonephroma, is an epithelial-cell-derived carcinoma characterized by the presence of clear cells observed during histological, diagnostic assessment. Clear cell carcinoma (0.86 cm/year) tended to grow faster than papillary cell carcinoma (0.28 cm/year) (P = 0.066). Clear cell carcinoma of the ovary is an uncommon type of epithelial ovarian cancer. It accounts for five to 10 per cent (five to 10 in a hundred) of patients with ovarian cancer, It is likely that the cause of clear cell is different from the most common type of ovarian cancer, high grade serous epithelial ovarian cancer. It may develop from other ovarian tumours called adenofibromas. A family history of clear cell ovarian cancer may also increase the risk and there is an association with Lynch syndrome which is an inherited condition that increases the risk of several cancers. Clear cell ovarian cancer may also be more common in people with a history of endometriosis. My story began last year was diagnosed with this rare type of cancer 1 week before my 49th birthday which started in a tumour on the left side it grew within 6 months from 5 to 13cms had surgery on January 2022 and resulted in not being localised so had to undergo 6 months of gruelling chemotherapy. Finally NED after numerous scans and unfortunately within 5 months I have a reoccurrence as it had metastasized to the right lymph node and suspected cancer in the pelvis. Diagnosed just before my 50th birthday February 2nd 2023. Will be undergoing major surgery 13th march to remove they hope these dangerous cancer cells as there is no treatment as yet for this rare form of cancer which we call the silent killer.
