My Story
I've been doing Race for Life for a number of years now - I started the year of a significant birthday and have had another one of those since. In a way it's the same old thing - a good thing to do, and a great cause. And every year I reckon I haven't trained enough. This year that is certainly true. I entered RfL early because there have been years my local race was cancelled due to not enough runners entering. And then ended up in hospital in January.... and at one point the "C" word was mentioned. Luckily it was also ruled out fairly quickly, but I still ended up having an unplanned encounter with a surgeon's knife and woke up with a line of 21 staples added to my personal inventory. I didn't have to also deal with chemo or radiotherapy - it's hard to even imagine what that is like. Now it's 8 weeks away from race day and I'm not even running yet. This year I'm not aiming to equal my previous times - I just want to get round. And I'd welcome any support you feel able to give. After all, it hasn't stopped being a good thing to do, and it hasn't stopped being a great cause !
