Cancer is a thief, no other word for it. It steals our family, our friends. Time to stop it!

Suzanne Sharp-Bayliss

My Story

All too sadly we ALL know someone who is or has been affected by Cancer. The Original Jellybabes (although not our original team name, that came later!) started out in 2013 walking the London Walk the Walk Night Marathon for breast cancer. Many of you will know why it was personal for me, some of you won't. Fortunately I can count my blessings everyday that my personal reason is a survivor. On setting out that wet May evening in 2013, little did we all know, the beautiful #6 (Suzanne) walking with us was about the start her own battle against the b@$tard life stealing disease. Suzanne fought her cancer with every inch of her being but so sadly she lost her battle in June 2016. In September last year I walked my fourth Marathon - solo. 26.2 miles in my own company, just music and my thoughts for company. But I wasn't truly alone though, Suzanne was with me, on my back sign, in my memories, in my heart. She was the wind that pushed me on, she was the people who tapped me on my back and wished me well, for cancer may have stolen my friends body but it left me with an angel. Suzanne is so sadly not the only reason we do this, we have all experienced a loss or change of life due to Cancer. Since my last Marathon my Aunt was sadly diagnosed and lost her battle, and a friends cancer has returned and way too many friends continue their own stories or leave behind their families devastated. There are determined people who have fought are categorized cancer free, I won't name them though, not everyone wishes to share their personal story, but I am so proud of them and privileged to count them as friends. It is for them that I do what I can, walk, and beg for your kind hearted donations. So 2017 sees Linda join me on her very first marathon. Linda is another of Suzanne's friends and herself a survivor! Together, we join forces to do our very best to show Cancer the middle finger!!! Cancer IS happening right now! 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
