My Story
It resonates with me once more to participate in Race for Life in July 2018. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1996; 10 months after marrying my soul mate and best friend, and my world as I knew it fell apart. My grandson will be one this year and that was the age my daughter was when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1996; resulting in a mascetomy rebuild LHS, 6 months chemotherapy and 6 weeks radiotherapy. Not always plain sailing as constantly ill due to an extremely low immune system, with pnemonia or plueresy and my marriage failed because i could not have any more children. In 1998 it returned consquenting in another operation and 6 weeks intensive radiotherapy followed by a serious bout of pnemonia. I have been extremely fortunate to be mum to my gorgeous daughter and under the brilliant care of Mr Kissin at the Royal Surrey Hosptial for 10 years, I was given the all clear in 2008. I was given my life back to be there for her and now she is a brilliant mum to my grandson. I work outdoors as a gardener and designer; for the past 3 years I have built my immune system up to be extremely strong and no flu jabs. I am very lucky and I know it. I just feel it is time to raise money once more. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
