I have been fighting breast cancer for the past year, a journey that has involved 2 surgeries, 6 sessions of chemotherapy, 15 sessions of radiotherapy, 18 sessions of immunotherapy and five years of hormone therapy. I’m lucky as my prognosis is good but thousands of others aren’t so lucky. My children and I are running together, to raise money for research that I hope will find kinder treatments or even a cure. Consistent progress is being made but improvements to technology and ground-breaking work offer new opportunities to find different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve survival rates even further.
