My Story
This year's London marathon will be my 14th marathon (12th London, 1 x Brighton & 1 Chester) and to make it even more memorable I will be in my new age category - W50 -54!! I have said for the past couple of years, that after each one that would be my last one. But once again I found myself being drawn to entering this years ballot - unsuccessfully and then waiting patiently for the Good for Age results to be announced to see if I had been one of the lucky ones! After a very long wait and finding out that I had secured a place, what better way to celebrate this amazing opportunity than to run for Cancer Research UK and try to help raise some funds to support this charity. I have found that there is no greater sense of achievement than crossing that finishing line knowing that your efforts will somehow be helping someone somewhere. Unfortunately we all know someone or have lost someone ; family, friend, colleague, who has had cancer and it is heartbreaking. The recent news of King Charles III just goes to show that no one is untouchable. If you are therefore able to help support Cancer Research UK in any way, it would be very much appreciated. The size of your donation is irrelevant, just knowing that you have helped and showed your support will mean the world to me! Thank you and see you at the finish line!!
