Sat 24 Sep 2022 - Sat 24 Sep 2022

My Story

1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s ground breaking work. Donate to my Giving Page today and help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.Myself ,Natasha ,Louis and Max have decided to do this half marathon at night in London as its close to our hearts back in April this year 2 very special people in our lives were diagnosed with the horrible disease and we feel that it would be a great idea to help raise funds for this disease that we call Cancer. Back in April this year our beloved mum was taken ill in hospital in London having suffered for several months prior having had numerous scans, tests etc where it was unknown what was ahead. Having under gone a life saving operation and days / weeks in intensive care we was given the terrible news that she has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and had an up hill battle to fight this.Even though they removed her pancreas and spleen it had spread so is now undergoing chemo and she is doing well and we couldn't be more proud of her. While in hospital she was also diagnosed with skin cancer and again has had to undergo surgery to fight it and has since had a skin graft to help the healing . Our mum/nan has to attend hospital in London once a week in her recovery of this horrible disease . If you are one of the lucky ones to know our mum/nan you will no that she is the most caring, loving, fun, full of energy, life and soul of any party and does anything for anyone and is truly loved by all that's around her and we all admire her in her fight for this disease will call Cancer. Also back in April our special friend Vyckie was also diagnosed with Breast cancer and has since under gone 2 surgeries to remove her breast and lymph glands as it has spread and agin is currently gong through chemo and we could be more proud of her how she has taken it so well . One of the most positive woman we know. Vyckie has said that she doesn't want cancer to control her so continues to go to work ,takes daily walks to help her in her recovery . Once agin if you have th privilege of knowing Vyckie she truly is amazing in all areas she does so much for everyone else and never puts herself 1st she truly is an inspiration to herself and others and we are all so proud of her. This horrible disease takes so many lives whether they are old or young and we need to help find a cure to help beat this disease in future years to come. Cancer doesn't just effect the person involve it effects everyone around them too and it so hard to sit back and watch them beat this and feel so helpless so we have decided to do this half marathon walk at night in London which we will start at 9.15 pm and hope to finish at 2am so we've got some work to do . We ask that you can donate as little or as much as you can so we can all come together to help find a cure that is currently taking so many lives 1 in 2 will have cancer in a lifetime . Thank you for reading our story and we are now dedicated to complete this walk and help care for not 1 but 2 special people in our lives xxxx

CAUSE

Pancreatic cancer

Survival rates for pancreatic cancer remain stubbornly low in the UK, often because the disease is diagnosed late and is difficult to treat. Help Cancer Research UK make progress in one of the biggest research challenges its scientists are facing – to find better ways to detect and treat the disease.
