2018 Brighton Marathon

Someone suggested running a marathon was a good idea....I'll let you know if they were right!

My Story

Here's why I'm doing it: I lost my grandfather more than 10 years ago to cancer. But I’m running the Brighton Marathon for Elaine and Sharon - two women I never had the privilege to meet, they were both friends of a close friend. Both women fought with breast cancer, both sadly lost their battle, both left behind loved ones and friends; and sadly, both were the same age as me. The bravery of both women will inspire me to get through the 26.3 miles and (hopefully) across the finish line. Cancer is happening right now, and it affects all ages, which is why I’m raising money for Cancer Research UK. There’s no time to lose! Donate to my page today and help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. See you at the finish line! Cara xx

CAUSE

Breast cancer

With almost 140 women diagnosed every day, breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. And, although rarer, around 350 men are also diagnosed with breast cancer every year. The good news is more than two-thirds of women now survive 20 years or more. Help Cancer Research UK find new ways to diagnose and treat the disease.
