In September, we will be walking (pfew!) a night marathon in support of my dear friends’ gorgeous 3-year old son, Gaspard. 6 months ago, Gaspard was diagnosed with a stage 3 Rhabdomyosarcoma located in his pelvis. This soft tissue cancer affects less than 60 children in the UK every year. Since then, Gaspard and his family have undertaken an incredibly hard journey to win the battle which so far has included over 40 general anaesthetic, 9 rounds of chemo as well as 6 weeks of Protom B therapy, a special radiation treatment that uses protoms, rather than X ray, to improve targeting and spare organs surrounding the tumor. That night, we will be walking in support of Gaspard's journey, his family, the medical teams surrounding them as well as a few of our loved ones who have also been impacted by rare forms of cancer.
