I'm taking part in Race for Life to raise money to fund cancer research, so more people can get effective, targeted treatments and get better, just like lucky old me!

My Story

My friend’s lovely young daughters want to do this race to raise money, so I’m joining them as it’s about time I did something in return for the amazing treatment I had when I needed it. We may not do much running, probably just speed walking or lolloping, but we will get round and have set ourselves the goal of not coming last! I read a lot of the research, and know understanding and treatment of these tricksy diseases is developing all the time, but this won’t happen without funding. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and it’s edging towards 2 in 3. I remember being scared, but top care and treatment meant I was, and remain, fine and dandy.
