My Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. Before I’d even walked one of the 66-mile challenge, thanks to some generous friends out there, donations to Cancer Research, Bobby Moore Bowel Cancer Fund began rolling in. The 66 miles will be walked rather than run, I tried some warm-up jogs & one of my knees in particular wasn’t very happy about it. I don’t want to end up being less mobile than I already am! The pain is nothing compared to what Ann continues to go through every day; she had Bowel Cancer the year after Breast Cancer. Her challenge began as we went into lockdown, after 6 operations, she’s living with CIPN, CKD & other side effects from past treatment & current drugs. With who knows how many subsequent investigations (scans, biopsies, blood tests & appointments) we are always waiting for something other! Thankfully Ann is a survivor! If you decides not to take up the 66-mile challenge & want to make a donation, please follow the link and please do what you can to make a difference. https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/cancer-research-go-that-xtra-mile-with-david-meek

CAUSE
Bobby Moore Fund
Bobby Moore was just 51 years old when he died. Shortly after his death in 1993, Bobby’s widow Stephanie Moore OBE set up the Bobby Moore Fund to raise money for pioneering bowel cancer research. Since the fund was set up , bowel cancer mortality rates have fallen by over 30%. However, with 48 people losing their life to the disease every day in the UK, we still have a long way to go.
