Shine London 2018 - Half Marathon
Sat 22 Sep 2018 - Sat 22 Sep 2018
In memory of
John Stafford
Everyone knows how much I hate walking or any form of exercise! I am taking part in the Shine Night walk half marathon with my work colleagues! I am honouring this walk in remembrance of my beautiful brother, who sadly passed away on 7th June 2018 to a cruel and selfish illness. This has left a massive hole in our hearts, and there is not a day that goes by where we never think of him! As a family, we a missing his presence and humour. John was first diagnosed with colorectal cancer on 13 November 2015. On 15 November, he was called back into hospital to prepare him for his first operation. From then on, he underwent 29 weeks of chemotherapy, 5 weeks of radiotherapy and 2 more surgeries. On 24 January 2017, he was given the initial go-ahead that John seemed to be cancer free. Unfortunately, John had been feeling poorly since Christmas 2016 and he was eventually admitted to hospital with acute kidney failure in March/April 2017, where we received the awful news that the cancer was back and now stage 4, incurable. However, this did not stop him from fighting and remaining positive throughout his illness. During his final stages, John sadly became too weak to continue fighting as his cancer had spread to various parts of the body which was incredibly aggressive, leaving John in excruciating pain. As a result of this, I would greatly appreciate your support to raise funds for further research so that other patients do not have to endure the pain and suffering that John went through. Thank you all for your support!
