Too many people's lives have been ruined by cancer- Let's make cancer history
In memory of
My beloved Nanny Pat- one of the best people whom ever lived
Apparently when I run, I look like C3PO from the Starwars Franchise. Everybody I know has been touched somehow by cancer. My family lost my Nan over ten years ago and I still remember how quickly she went from being an active, happy lady to a shell of her former self- and how we were utterly unprepared for how rapid the change will be. Cancer eats a person from the inside, and for those nearest to them it is the worst thing in the world to witness. My Nan was essentially a third parent, and loved her family fiercely. She never harmed anybody, went out of her way to help others, and remains one of my biggest inspirations to this day. She didn't deserve to die the way she did. Close friends have had mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles and other relatives battle cancer, and my grandfather had a brush with skin cancer two years ago, which was thankfully successfully treated. It was the bad news of a friend who prompted me to start fundraising. I am unable to alter the current situation that she and her family are in at present, but I can help contribute to a program who aims to irradicate cancer in all forms. That seems like a worthy reason to don a pair of trainsers and make an utter twit of myself in May.
