My Story
Buildbase have been working in partnership with Cancer Research UK since 2013. This year Buildbase, Electricbase and Hirebase employees are taking on their toughest fundraising challenge yet and are aiming to raise £125,000 for CRUK’s life saving work. Funds raised will be used to help fund a clinical trial that is finding the right treatment combination for men with prostate cancer. Results from 2017 for this trial showed combining the drug abiraterone with other hormone therapies at the start of treatment improves survival by 37% “These are the most powerful results I’ve seen from a prostate cancer trial – it’s a ‘one in a career’ feeling. This is one of the biggest reductions in death I’ve seen in any clinical trial for adult cancers” Professor Nick James. £125,000 will support all of the running costs for this trial for a period of 9 months.

From testing new therapies to finding better ways of using existing therapies, our clinical trials have helped improve cancer treatment. But these treatments don’t work for everyone and can have short- and long-term side effects. With your support, we can find kinder, more effective treatments so that people can live longer, better lives.
