My Story
As self-confessed desk dwellers we, in the HR Best Practice Team at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, are changing our 2021 team catchphrase from 'Desh, you're on mute', to 'Go BIG or go home' (metaphorically speaking obvs, we're doing our part and staying at home #stayhomestaysafe πͺ). For many of us Covid-19 has flipped day-to-day life on its head, missing family and friends, home-schooling and staying in being the new going out. Some have found comfort in TikTok, baking banana bread, Zoom parties, and binge watching Netflix (other streaming platforms are available) but for others, the impact of the pandemic have been and continue to be, devastating. Now, more than ever our frontline services need our support as we endeavour to return to normality. We have decided to join in the 'Walk All Over Cancer' March 2021 fundraising in our own way, walking nearly FOUR MILLION steps covering the counties of England. To put it into perspective, that's 2729km or 1696miles, makes us nervous just thinking about it, EEK! π² Sadly, the castors on our computer chairs aren't quite up to the distance so we'll be donning our daps and pounding the pavements to cover the distance, be it walking, jogging, or more likely crawling our way to the finish line in one month ππΌβββ. We will be providing progress updates on our Twitter page, @hrbestpractice, any messages of motivation (or heckling if it looks like we are slacking in our task...) are always welcome! As a bunch of relatively unfit (*cough cough*) individuals please humour us and give where you can although, like Jackie Weaver, we have no authority here π βββ Remember, be kind always π
