Bryony's Race for Life
Sheffield 10k 2019
Sun 16 Jun 2019 - Sun 16 Jun 2019
I'm taking part in Race for Life to help beat this awful disease and raise awareness of ovarian cancer!
In memory of
Nanny and Special Granddad
Everyone who met my Nanny knew how much of an outgoing, confident and blatantly crazy woman she was, who never stepped down from a challenge even when the challenge was the big C. After stating she only had months to live she fought back for so much longer. I've decided that in memory of my crazy Nan I'd do something crazy too, and that is running 10k... My Nan was always an advocate of being and eating healthily especially when one of us reached for one too many Yorkshire's on a Sunday. So I thought the craziest way to raise money and awareness would be to get up off my lazy arse and start running. My Special Granddad also lost the fight to cancer before I was born and for some reason I've always felt he was watching over us so this is for you too. Some may think I'm unlucky to have lost 2 grandparents at the age of 16 but my Nanny influenced me in so many ways, from teaching me to tie my shoelaces, make a banging gravy and be myself unapologetically. I never got to meet my special Granddad from the stories I hear he was clever man and I've done many things that have reminded my mum of him. Cancer is a vile disease and I'm running to help raise awareness, especially of ovarian cancer, and help people like my Nanny and Special Granddad who had to battle it. My goal is to raise £300 which would pay for 10 cervical screenings. I mean I am RUNNING 10km and I can currently run 0km so this is a massive massive challenge for me, but only a fraction of a challenge of what many people have to face. Please please please sponsor me, just £1 will add up and also you can follow my journey on Instagram ( @bryswayto10k ) and Facebook to witness the sweat, blood and tears going in to this. Thank you, Bry xo
