Lily asked me one day "mummy, what's cancer and how does it hurt people?" trying to explain this to a 7 year old was quite difficult. I told her it is a horrible bug that can grow in some peoples bodies and can send people to heaven. She then asked if cancer was was the reason that her nana Tracey went to heaven, the answer was yes. My mum died at a very young age, 47, from cancer. Lily was only 1 and a half but she speaks of her often. Lily said she wanted to do something to help people with cancer so I suggested race for life and she was so excited to do it. Lily's words, I want to help people stay alive and have fun for the rest of their life. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 10k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
