My Story
Thank you for clicking on my just giving link and many thanks if you sponsor me! Along with some colleagues I’m taking part in the SHINE Night Walk to raise funds for Cancer Research UK (CRUK) on 15 October. It’s a 10k walk around the center of Manchester which is considerably further than my current commute from front to back bedroom! So while not a huge distance it’s further than I’ve walked for a while. I'm doing this in memory of loved ones I’ve lost to Cancer and in support of those I know living with it. The statistics (taken from the CRUK website) are stark; there are around 375,000 new cancer cases in the UK every year, that's around 1,000 every day (2016-2018) and every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer. On the plus side Cancer survival is improving and has doubled in the last 40 years in the UK (again taken from the CRUK website). Here’s hoping it doesn’t rain on the night…… :) All the best, Brenda
